In Memoriam

When NaNoWriMo finally concluded at the beginning of this month (I competed.... I didn't do a GREAT job, but I'm proud I wrote more words than I though I would- pathetic, right? :D), I intended to use the blog title 'In Memoriam' for some kind of tribute to the many series I've concluded during this fall/early winter (and I will do that!!); now, however, I have to use it in a far more serious context.

On Friday (Dec. 14th), a terrible, terrible, horrible thing happened: a school shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. The news of a mass killing isn't, sadly, a new one or anything; it seems like this year and last year we've heard more about these tragedies than ever before, or maybe I just feel that way because I've been paying more attention to the world, I'm not sure... I'm off topic, it seems -back to it, then.

For me, and I think for many people, what sets this event separate from the others is simply the victims: 20 six/seven-year-olds, and 6 adults, all killed over the period of two rooms in an elementary school. Now, I'm not saying the other killings (the movie theater shooting in Aurora Colorado over the summer, in example, and more) aren't tragic, aren't horrible and just as a senseless loss of life as the others, I'm not insinuating that by any means! However.... what's so poignant about the Sandy Hook shooting are the AGES;  6 and 7-year-old kids?!  What kind of disgusting sicko not only plans but carries out this heinous act of unwarranted violence? What is there to gain?! NOTHING!!

There is nothing that could have be gained from this, no prize, no anything.... but it still happened. The questions, or rather, the question -'WHY?'- cannot be fully answered, nor need it be. This (pardon the swearing) bastard's motive doesn't fix/change a thing; whatever his sick reasoning warranted wrongfully slaying these people, these children, will neither dry the tears the family members, friends, and the community have, and will continue to shed for these lives lost too soon, or bring these people back.

So, for all these people - for both the lost and the living- I'll be praying for you guys...

Over and out, folks.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy All Hallow's Eve, everyone!!
My favorite part of Halloween, by far (& besides the opportunity to look positively RIDICULOUS is amazing costumes), has to be the pumpkin carving. Here are a list of awesome pumpkins - NONE of which will probably look like mine, and I don't mean in a good way - that I found whilst looking for inspiration for my pumpkin.
...................And Here They Are!!!!!!!
and, btw, this is an extremely partial list, cause there really is no way to showcase everything on my other tab (:D), so here's my ultimate favorites, I think. :)

Book Review

This summer, I took part in a reading contest.... sort of. You see, I filled out the paper saying I was taking part, I took home the little packet with instructions..... and forgot to turn it in. So, in summary of that little adventure, I did end up accumulating enough (reading) hours to be recognized at the end of the contest, I just never actually turned in those above mentioned hours.
ANYWAYS,
this is not pointless rambling, for there's a point to all of this. I promise.
You see, (btw, I realize that this back story is very reminiscent of a Doctor Doofinshmirtz back story, but that show is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!, so I don't mind/care) I kept of the list detailing all the books I read for the contest, and, I must say, I found some pretty epic books!! Here they are, w/o description because I couldn't probably accurately describe any of them, mostly due to the fact I read them in early June and have since read SEVERAL books, and can't remember. Here goes...

  • Auslander  by Paul Downswell
  • All Good Children  by Catherine Austen
  • Lament  by Maggie Stiefvater
  • Bizarre Phenomena and Unexplained Mysteries  by Nancy Carr and Peter Henshaw
  • X-Men  by Kristin Kathryn Rusch and Dean Wesley Smith
  • Ultraviolet  by R. J. Anderson
  • When Jeff Comes Home  by Catherine Atkins
  • A Great and Terrible Beauty  by Libba Bray
  • Evolution, Me, and Other Freaks of Nature  by Robin Brande
  • I Was a Teenage Fairy  by Francesca Lia Block
  • Things You Never Knew About LOST  by Vozzek
  • This Dark Endeavor  by Kenneth Oppel
  • Wonderstruck  by Brain Selznick
  • Breadcrumbs  by Anne Ursu
  • Insurgent  by Veronica Roth
  • A Monster Calls  by Patrick Ness
  • Deja Dead  by Kathy Reichs

My favorites are marked in green. Just to let you know. I enjoyed these books, and I would HIGHLY recommend any of them. Enjoy!!!

I'll be back.

Peace out y'all!!

The Anime list has arrived!!!!!!!

Yes, children, the moment has come at last: I've (partially) finished the anime list of bests!!!
Here is my long-enjoyed-continue-to-enjoy-can't-wait-to-keep-enjoying list of amazing anime and one (no, wait!!! I just realized, TWO) strange, lone Studio Ghibli movie(s) (which, I think, are TECHNICALLY anime?.......).

Kuroshitsuji (aka Black Butler)- A recent find, but I'm ABSOLUTELY addicted!!!!!!! Demon Butler? Queen's 'hound dog'? Mystery, mayhem, supermegafoxyawesomehot BUTLER?! I do. :D

Fruits Basket- Both dark, funny, and feel-good fluffy, this manga is just amazing!!! I am, and continue to remain, a COMPLETE die-hard fan!!!!!!!!! I love it love it love it!!! (Contains the zodiac animals, curses, and springtime. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!)

Bleach- CAUSE. IT'S. AWESOME. (Don't worry, I'll find another word to use to describe anime besides 'awesome'...... but until then!)

Little Pet Shop of Horrors- So. Deliciously. Scary!!!!!!! Especially since I'd just gotten a pet right before seeing this!!!!! Careful what you agree to buy as a pet, and, for HEAVEN'S sake, DON'T break your contract!!! It's awesome sauce!!!!!!

Angel Beats!- It's really, REALLY good!!! Super sad, cause it's about ghost children trying to attain their peace, but so good!!!

And the Studio Ghibli movie I DO like.....IS......Howl's Moving Castle!!!! The other Studio Ghibli movie that's mainly really, REALLY strange....IS......Spirited Away. I don't know, the latter is just weird.

Anime that I'm trying/going to start!!!!

Naruto

Fullmetal Alchemist

Ouran Host Club

Darker than Black

Working on manga list, will post soon.
Peace out, y'all!!!

Greetings, Earthlings

Nice to see ya guys! Before I start, I just wanted to introduce myself, and some of the blogs & authors that have and continue to inspire me, in so many ways.

About Me: I'm a home schooled soon to be junior, and have been my entire life, one of my (weird, true, and freaky) hobbies throughout my childhood/teenage life has been violin; I'm so dedicated to it! and I'm a first violin/concert mistress of my Youth Orchestra. A lot of people are surprised, and I can understand why in a way, 'cause I've done it for SO Long, but I'm NOT going to continue after high school into a professional musician (I'm 90% sure): I dreamed and fantasized about becoming an archaeologist, 'cause history has always been a (extreme) favorite of mine, so it's my passion and my goal. :D
Authors: Okay, I've got a TON of absolute favorite authors, but FOR NOW, I'm just going to post the ones I know have blogs.....

Currently, I'm working on my worthwhile posts, which will probably end up being my lists of favorite animes/mangas/books/movies/etc. so I'll have something interesting to post, so STAY TUNED. :)

Peace out, y'all.
